Obituary: Judy Dayvault Goodman passed away peacefully at her home with her husband and daughters by her side on July 17, 2018. Judy won a valiant fight against cancer and she now resides in heaven with her Lord and Savior. She was born on April 15, 1944, to Harold & Virginia Dayvault of Kannapolis, who preceded her in death. Judy's family was very important to her and she was exceptionally fond of her grandparents and the family traditions they enjoyed together. Judy is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Gary A. Goodman, her daughters Leslie G. Eagle (David) of Kannapolis and Stacey G. Burleyson (Jody) of China Grove, and her brother Scott H. Dayvault of Kannapolis. Judy was extremely proud of her special niece, Alexandria Dayvault, and her four grandchildren: Cameron Burleyson, Meghan Eagle, Olivia Eagle, and Reece Burleyson. She was their biggest cheerleader at the countless sporting events she attended and she was constantly teaching them about life in general. Judy also had a special bond with her lifelong friend, Joyce D. Deal. Judy graduated from A.L. Brown High School ('62) and Appalachian State University ('67). She retired from the Rowan-Salisbury School System (Enochville Elementary) in June 1998 after 28 years of teaching. Although she had numerous students that held a very distinctive place in her heart for many years after they left her classroom, she had an enduring relationship with Rodney Harrington up until her passing. Judy loved her family beyond measure and her passions included quilting, traveling, shopping and listening to the music of The Kingdom Heirs. Judy was a member of First Reformed Church of Landis. The family will receive friends in the First Reformed Church fellowship hall at 210 N. Central Avenue, Landis, NC, on Monday, June 23, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held in the sanctuary at 4 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, NC. Judy's family will be forever grateful for the care she received in her home and at CHS-NorthEast. The family would specifically like to thank Angela Trull, Kayla Harrington, Donna Lackey, Tisha Maner, Linda Pope, Delores Sechler, and Leah Thompson with Carolina Home Care. These ladies were a true blessing to Judy and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Reformed Church of Landis.
