June (Medlin) Hartsoe, age 87 of China Grove, wife of the late Elmer Hartsoe, passed away February 4, 2023 after a brief illness. Born in Cabarrus county on June 14, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Claude Herman and Gussie Inez (Williams) Medlin.
Throughout her life, June was an avid music lover. At the early age of seven using the accordion, organ and piano, she played gospel music daily for people in town. She also sang and played organ and piano in a band called “Charisma” for 25 years. June worked as a cutter for Cannon Mills for 30 years, then later became known as the “energetic” cashier at Walmart in Mooresville. She loved all her family, especially her grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Anita “Tammy” Corriher of Kannapolis, her grandson Ivan Corriher of China Grove, her granddaughter Kayla Corriher of Salisbury and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Tony Lee Williams, 2 brothers, Bob Medlin and Pete Medlin, and 2 sisters Priscilla Horne and Claudette Craig.
A memorial service to celebrate June’s life will be held Thursday, February 9th at 3 PM in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
