Junior Ray Anderson

Junior Ray Anderson , 77, of Kannapolis passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 6, 2021 with his family at his side.

A funeral service to celebrate Junior’s life will be held at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM Monday, August 9 with Rev. Leonard Ewing officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

Junior was born October 14, 1943 in Chesterfield Co. SC, the son of the late Steve and Laura Jenkins Anderson. In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his sister, Pearlie Anderson Hunter, his daughter Jessica Lynn Anderson and two great-grandchildren Annalise and Jaxson Anderson.

Junior moved to this area as a young child and went to work early. As an adult, he worked many years for Fieldcrest Cannon in the Bleachery Dept. and also worked part-time at Fred L. Wilson School. Junior was a hard worker and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, listening to good preaching and gospel music. Junior loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Wages Anderson of the home; his sons, Timmy Ray Anderson, Darrell Eugene Anderson (Jennifer) and Steven Ray Anderson  and his daughter, Angela Anderson Avery (Bobby) all of Concord; his grandchildren, Austin Ray Anderson, Tiffany Lynn Anderson, Aaron Jacob Anderson, Alexander Joel Anderson, Breanna Lauren Avery and Steven Gage Anderson; his great-grandchildren, Brook-Lynn Jade Motley, Alec Joel Anderson, Audrey Noel Anderson, Ripp Walker Anderson, RaeLynn Nicole Anderson, Colt Joshua Ray Anderson, Kayde Austin Anderson and Hayden James Hudson; his sisters, Doris Wilkes and Colleen Simpson, both of SC, Judy Key and Barbara Lambert, both of Kannapolis and numerous nieces and nephews.
