Obituary: Junior "Bud" Shaw Rumple, 84, of Kannapolis died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Brian Center of Cabarrus Co. after a period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 9 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duane Melton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethpage United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 8 at Whitley's Funeral Home, at other times they will be at 2300 West C St., the home of granddaughter, Leann Harrington. Junior was born November 24, 1928 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Heman and Mary Bell Upright Rumple. He was a life-long area resident and member of Bethpage UMC. Junior was employed for over 25 years with Cannon Mills #7 Weave Room and then became a commercial cat fisherman. He was affectionately known as "June" to some of his friends and family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, "June" was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Upright Rumple, his brother, Andrew Rumple and his sisters, Dot Harkey, Polly Cantrell, Kathleen Carter and Ruby Cosby. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Rumple Harwell of Kannapolis, his 2 granddaughters, Gina Teeter (Jeff) of Kannapolis and Leann Harrington (Eric) of Kannapolis and 3 great-grandsons Hunter and Noah Teeter and Garrett Harrington.
