Karen Upright Green

Obituary: Karen Upright Green, age 62, of Kannapolis died unexpectedly on Friday, February 24, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, February 27 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Rev. James Pauley officiating. Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. Karen was born September 2, 1954 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late James R. and Mary Flanagan Upright. She was a life-long area resident and was of the Baptist faith. Karen was an avid reader, enjoyed pier fishing at the beach, but taking care of her special needs nephew, Zachary was the joy of her life. Karen was a loving and devoted wife, sister and aunt. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Dwayne (Bubba) Upright and infant niece, Amber Cook. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Sammy Green, her sister, Beth Upright Cook (Wilroy) and loving nephew, Zachary Cook, all of Kannapolis. Karen is also survived by her sister in law, Peggy Green and nephews Jimmy, Bobby and Pablo Green, all of Salisbury and her special friend, Kim Jelks.
