Obituary: Karl E. Fisher, Sr., age 92, of The Parkway at Piedmont Crossing, 100 Hedrick Drive, Thomasville, NC - died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Hospice House of High Point, NC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held immediately following at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC conducted by Roland E. Cavanaugh, D.Min. Mr. Fisher was born September 7, 1923, in Rockwell, NC, son of the late Berry A. Fisher, Sr. and the late Dovie Barringer Fisher. A graduate of Cannon High School, Kannapolis, NC, he attended Davidson College and Duke University and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He retired after 40 years at Cabarrus Bank & Trust Company, Concord, NC and was a member of the Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge #695 of Kannapolis, NC and the VFW. He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret Cannon who died in 1981, and wife Annie Ruth Brinkley Winecoff who died in 2015. He is survived by daughter June and husband David Christian of Kannapolis, NC; sons Karl Jr. and wife Betty Fisher of Kannapolis, NC, and Gary and wife Katherine Fisher of Hillsborough, NC; grandsons, Tyler and wife Beverly Christian of Durham, NC, Aaron and wife Stephanie Fisher of Wallkill, NY, Patrick Fisher of Salisbury, NC and John and wife Brenda Fisher of Durham, NC, step-grandson Chris Christian of Kannapolis, NC; four great grandchildren Hannah, Brenton, Jonathan, and step-granddaughter Kamdyn; sister Margaret Ann Griggs of Charlotte, NC and brother Rev. C. Larry Fisher of Baltimore, MD, and was predeceased by brothers James Fisher and B.A Fisher Jr. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute to Nazareth Children's Home, P.O.
