Katherine Sechler

Obituary: Katherine Pearl Overcash Sechler, 91, of China Grove went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health. She was born June 22, 1926 in Rowan County, NC a daughter of the late Robert Clyde Overcash and Lula Florence Deal Overcash Hooks. Katherine was a member of Corriher Heights Baptist Church and attended Genesis Baptist Church. She was employed at Cannon Mills Plt. #1 in the towel packaging department for 48 years until her retirement in 1994. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Sechler three brothers, Brice Overcash, Royal Overcash, and Harry Overcash. She was also preceded in death by three sisters; RuthTroutman, Helen Broadway, and Jettie Connell. Survivors include her son, Roger Connell (Pat), three grandchildren; Kim Corum, Alan Connell and Shawn Connell, three great grandchildren; Alisha Mathis, Brandon Chappell, and Cryssie Mitchell, one sister, Thelma Milstead, one stepdaughter, Nancy Jo Helms, three step grandchildren; Dale Helms, Tammy Strickland and Jeffery Helms, four great-great grandchildren and three step great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Gene Edwards. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Sechler.
