Katherine Knight Waldroup

Obituary: China Grove-Katherine "Kat" Knight Waldroup, 88, passed away Wednesday morning, November 4, 2015, at Kiser Hospice House following a period of declining health. Born November 29, 1926 in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Thomas McNeil Knight and Dovie Luann Jackson Knight. Mrs. Waldroup was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church and was blessed to enjoy cake baking and knitting. She was a former Eastern Star member, where she had served as Worthy Matron. Earlier in life she was a hair dresser and along with her husband, was an avid bowler. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Jesse Waldroup, a daughter Dovie "Shirley" Pittman and a sister Margaret Milem. Family members left with cherished memories include her daughter Marie Wilkinson and husband, Wrenn of China Grove; her sister Linda Webster of Salisbury; granddaughter Wendy Lambert Blake and husband, Alan, of Concord; her great-grandchildren Landon and Sophia Blake and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 1:30-2:30 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Mark Portis and Duanne Melton, pastors of Bethpage United Methodist Church. Mrs. Waldroup will be laid to rest beside her husband Jesse, at Carolina Memorial Park. On-line condolences may be made to the family at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
