Katherine Gullett Wike

Obituary: Katherine Gullett Wike, 90 of Kannapolis died Thursday January 13, 2011 at Big Elm Nursing Center. Her death follows an extended illness. She was born December 18, 1920 in Cabarrus County to the late Lewis and Sally Morrow Gullett. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank F. Wike who died in 1991, two sons Robert F. and Gene F. Wike, two grandsons and a brother. Mrs. Wike was a lifetime resident of the area and was employed by Cannon Mills in the #2 Spinning Rm. at Plant #1 for 40 years. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Friday January 14, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home main chapel with Rev. Jeff Upright officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon prior to the services. Mrs. Wike is survived by six grandchildren; Kevin R. Wike (Jennifer) and James Wike both of Kannapolis, Reggie Wike (Diane), Darren Wike (Linda), Sue Medley, and Leslie Holmes (Jimmy) all of Rockwell. She is also survived by a sister, Mazelle Strickland of Kannapolis, two daughter-in-laws, Mary Pug Wike Coan of Rockwell and Carolyn L. Wike of Kannapolis, and eleven grandchildren.
