Kathleen Ellen (Slate) Kicinski

Kathleen Ellen Slate Kicinski, 67 years old, of Kannapolis, previously of New York, passed away on April 8, 2023. Kathleen was born on June 24, 1955, in New York to the late Dale and Carolyn Rangel Slate.

Kathleen started her career with Piedmont Airlines working in their reservations department for 20 + years.  Kathleen went back to school and received her associate degree in criminal justice.  She then started her career in law enforcement with A&T University in Greensboro, NC as a campus police officer.  Later she retired from Colgate University as a campus security officer.

Kathleen was a compassionate woman who had a passion for arts and crafts.  She loved to garden, taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren, restoring antiques, and going to concerts and plays.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Brittney Kicinski; her sons, Shane Kicinski and his wife Misty, Cary Kicinski and his wife Melissa, Seth Kicinski, and Chase Kicinski; her sister, Dawn Slate; her brother, Jeff Dake; her grandchildren, Skyler Pruitt and her husband Shane, Kailee Kicinski, Secret Bost, Cameron Kicinski, Hunter Maine, Callie Kicinski, Kairlea Kicinski, Jace Kicinski, and Jaythen Kicinski; and her great grandchild due in August, Baby Pruitt.

A memorial service celebrating Kathleen’s life will be held at a later date.
