Kathryn Letitia (Peebles) Smith

Kathryn Letitia (Peebles) Smith, age 74 of Concord, passed away on January 22, 2023. Born in Guilford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William and Alma (Sneed) Peebles.  She is survived by two sons; Bradley Smith of Concord and Christopher Smith of Banner Elk; a sister Dr. Ellen P. Thrower of Jacksonville, FL. She was predeceased by a brother William Peebles, Jr.

Kathryn was a life-long animal lover. She and Ron opened a boarding and grooming facility, Sunnybrook Kennels, in Concord and have owned and operated it for over 31 years. The kennel still remains open for business. Kathryn especially loved her dogs. For more than twenty years she bred, raised and showed her prize-winning Cocker Spaniels and was internationally known and recognized for her Parti-Color Cockers.

A Memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:30 PM in Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dennis Morgan to officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
