Kay Linda (Lawing) Hicks

Kay Linda Lawing Hicks, 80, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health.

Kay was born July 1, 1942 in Iredell County, NC a daughter of the late Rev. L.E. “Buck” Lawing and Ruth Inez Norris Lawing. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Warren David Hicks on March 14, 2005, brothers, Ronald Edward Lawing, Donald Webster Lawing, Steven Lane Lawing and sister, Dell Raye Benfield.

Kay was employed as a C.N.A. for many years and also worked at the day care at Shiloh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed talking on her phone with friends.

Services will be held at a later date.

Family members left to cherish her memory include a son, Rocky Leonard Lawing (Christina) of Kannapolis and a daughter, Sonia Michelle Absher (Christopher Short) of Salisbury. Shei is also survived by six grandchildren; Ryan, Alexis, Ashley, Haylee, Emily, and Breanna.
