Obituary: Kenneth "Ken" Ray Baker, 68, of Concord died Sept. 14, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born December 5, 1942 in Cabarrus County, the son of Omie Baker of Kannapolis and the late Ray Baker. He was former owner of Spike Trucking Company. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at the National Cemetery in Salisbury with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Sunday at Whitley's Funeral Home. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Susan Baker, four children: John Patera (Melissa) of Marshville, Debbie Bradshaw (Robert) of Mt. Holly, Jean Marie O'Connell of Charleston, SC, and Gina Heatherington (Stuart) of Chapel Hill, 8 grandchildren, his sister Deanna Baker of Kannapolis and his very good friend Elton "Zip" Helms.Memorials are requested to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
