Kenneth Arthur Clayton

Kannapolis

Kenneth Arthur Clayton went to heaven shouting love for the Father and the Son on February 2, 2023.  Born in Cabarrus County on May 5, 1939 he was the son of the late Spencer Kenneth Clayton and Ophelia Overcash Clayton.  A sister, Peggy Joyce Clayton Gentle, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, son Randall (BeLinda) Clayton, daughter, Angela Clayton Shuntich and Eric Twitty, grandchildren Tyler Shuntich, Bryan Shuntich, Amy (JK) Frick, Ryan (Taylor) Hatley, great grandchildren Brooklyn, Bailey, Gavon and Ganon Frick and Mayson and Ayden Hatley.  A sister, Sarah Clayton Melton, also survives him.

Kenneth was a devoted and loving husband and father.  He loved to spend as much time possible with his children and grandchildren.  He went above and beyond to make sure that they knew they were loved.  He also loved to travel and enjoyed a full and happy life.

He was a sixty-year plus member of the Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge.  He was employed by Cannon Mills Company in the HVAC Department as supervisor for 38 years.  He was also employed by Allstate Insurance as a Claim Representative until his retirement. He loved children and volunteered at Shadybrook Elementary School where he was named volunteer of the year.   He was a lifelong member of Midway United Methodist Church and held many offices and positions within the church.  He was also a member of the Royal Oaks Optimist Club, where he served as president and was awarded the Optimist of the Year Award.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 6th at Whitley’s Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to his funeral.
