Obituary: Kenneth Max (Babe) Dayvault, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home after a short illness. He was born April 12, 1928 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Davidson Henderson Dayvault and Myrtie Patterson Dayvault. Babe was a 1947 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School where he was a star athlete playing football, baseball, and basketball. He was self-employed as a skilled brick mason until his retirement. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Irene Dayvault ; son, Daniel Philip Dayvault; his brothers, Robert L. Dayvault, Sr.; Harry M. Dayvault; Roy D. Dayvault; and sisters, Deamie D. Overcash; Mary D. Peeler; Alice D. McCombs; and Helen D. Richardson. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. John Mark Lindsay. Burial will be private at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife, Betty Farabee (Bet) Dayvault, who he married on June 28, 1947; his daughter, Ann D. Carter of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Patrick S. Carter and Lisbeth A. Carter of Wilmington, NC, Max Dayvault of Landis, NC, and Lauren Dayvault Hubbard of Kannapolis, NC; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Dayvault of China Grove, NC; and special friends, Joe and Pat Abernathy of Rockwell, NC.
