Kenneth Rodman Hurd

Kenneth Rodman “Ken” Hurd passed away November 4, 2024, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. He was born January 13, 1938, in Mayodan, NC, the son of the late Oscar and Maggie Goad Hurd.

He was a member of the Army Reserves. Ken started his employment with the Bank of Mayodan which was later acquired by Southern National Bank. He retired from BB&T (formerly Southern National) with 37 and a half years of service. Ken was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church.

Ken loved the outdoors, going to the beach and working in his garden. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Tarheels. Ken loved his cats who were his “babies.” Most of all, he loved his family.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his sons, Chris and Steve Hurd. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ann Miller Hurd and his daughter, Sandy Hackett and husband Barry of Julian NC; his granddaughters, Jessica and Lauren Watts, stepson Chris Driggers and wife Amy of MA, step-grandchildren, Aston and Amelie Driggers, his sister Sharman Hurd of Tampa FL and his nephew, Gary Tucker and wife Sharon.

His funeral service will be held at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel at 11:30 AM Tuesday, November 12 with Dr. Mike Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:30 AM prior to the funeral. The burial will take place at 3:00 PM at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery in Mayodan NC.
