Kenneth Edward Moss

Obituary: Kenneth (Ken) Edward Moss, age 76, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home after a period of declining health. He was born December 17, 1935 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Loyd H. Moss and Emma Bowles Moss. In earlier years Ken served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg during the Korean Conflict. He was a car salesman for thirty-five years having worked at Hilbish Ford Company, Kannapolis and later Cardell Carter Pontiac Buick, Kannapolis, NC most of that time. Ken enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing, and golf as special pastimes in his life. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. John Mark Beam. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Roseman Moss; four daughters, Vicky Moss, Peggy Lynch, Shirley Greene, and Tammy Strider, all of Kannapolis, NC; four sons, Eddie Moss of Concord, NC, Jeff Moss, Curtis Moss, and Harvey Greene, all of Kannapolis, NC; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Geraldine Moss Smith of Kannapolis, NC. We wish to make special mention of a special bond that Ken shared with his grandson, Mitchell Strider. Mitchell spent many days and nights providing care for his grandfather. He drove him to and from his doctor's appointments. He slept by his bedside when he was hospitalized. Mitchell was a caregiver in too many ways to count but most importantly the bond that Ken and Mitchell had was of m utual respect and love. This bond is and will forever be irreplaceable.
