Kevin Heath Shanus

Kevin Heath Shanus, 44 years old, of Concord, passed away on October 21, 2023.  Kevin was born in Nassau County, NY on July 25, 1979, to Joel and Susan Shanus who relocated to North Carolina in 1993.

Kevin was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, cat lover and friend to many.  He was a patient, considerate, inquisitive person with a quirky sense of humor who loved to make people laugh, and an enormous heart. Kevin was an IT Admin for Cabarrus Health Alliance for 17 years.  Kevin assisted in building the pinball community in the Charlotte area, organizing the local pinball tournaments and serving as the North Carolina pinball representative for many years.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 18 years, Shannon Carter Shanus; his parents, Joel and Susan Shanus; his brother, Michael Shanus and his wife Christine; his sister, Melanie Sammis and her husband Matthew; his sister-in-law, Tammy Burke and her husband Mark; his nephews, Owen and Cooper Sammis, David Shanus, and Tate Davis; his niece, Rylie Burke, and extended family.

The family will be holding a memorial gathering on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at Cabarrus Health Alliance, 300 Mooresville Rd, Kannapolis, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made in Kevin’s name to the Cabarrus County Animal Shelter, 65 Church St S Concord, NC 28025 or the Cabarrus Public Health Interest, 300 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
