Obituary: Kimberly "Sister" Ann Phelps Clay, 56 of Concord went to be with her Heavenly Father September 24, 2012 at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born September 5, 1956 in Cabarrus County to the late Bobby Gene Phelps, Sr. and Phyllis Ann Munday Phelps. In addition to her parents, her brother, Bobby Gene Phelps, Jr, preceded Kim in death. She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Scott Clay, step-son Avery Clay and her special pet, Precious. Siblings include two brothers, Tim Phelps and wife Kim of Concord and Edward Phelps and wife Melissa of Kannapolis. Neices are Jessica, Brooke and Alison Phelps; nephews are Joshua and Blake Phelps; and great-niece Maddison Higgins. Kim was involved in Outreach Ministry at Royal Oaks Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 28 at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, officiated by the Rev. Leon Smith and Rev. Rodney Taylor. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery on Camp Julia Road in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home.
