Kyle "Monk" Burris

Kyle “Monk” Burris, 54, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, March 25, 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Born November 14, 1967, in Concord, he was a son of the late Claude Clinton Burris and Katherine Gaynell Lewis Burris.

Monk was a 1986 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High, where he was a stellar athlete. Receiving a baseball scholarship to Pfeiffer College, Monk later graduated from UNCC, receiving a bachelor degree in economics. He was an avid UNC Tarheel, Atlanta Braves and Washington Redskins fan. Gone too soon, Monk will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family members include his brothers, Nicky Burris (Kelly) and Ricky Burris (Susan); his nephews, Dirk Burris (Kimmie) and Zac Burris, niece, Nikky Burris; his aunt, Geraldine Woodard, and extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services to remember Monk will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Eric Burris.  Burial will follow the services at Carolina Memorial Park.
