Obituary: Larry Eugene AldridgeLarry Eugene Aldridge, 70, of 1003 Moose Road, Kannapolis, NC died on June 21, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord, NC.Mr. Aldridge was born September 30, 1940 in Rowan Co., NC., the son of Eula Bradshaw Dorton of Kannapolis and the late James W. Aldridge. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a sister, Sue Roberts and his step-father, Ned Dorton .Mr. Aldridge was a lifelong resident of this area. In earlier years he managed a number of Fast Fare Stores in Cabarrus Co. and retired in 2004 from Merchant Metals in Charlotte. He was a very loving and protective husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sorely missed.In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his wife, Brenda Hallman Aldridge of the home, a son, Scott Aldridge (Jennifer) of Kannapolis, three daughters; Sherry A. Rabon (Kenny) of Kannapolis, Melissa A. Shavers (Reese) of Mississippi and Julie Aldridge of Kannapolis, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also, by a half brother, Jimmy Aldridge and a half sister, Judy Reno.A memorial service for Mr. Aldridge will take place at 12 noon on Friday, June 24, 2011 at First Evangelical Methodist Church in Kannapolis conducted by Pastor David Hayes. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. At other times they will be at the home of his mother, Eula B. Dorton at 1003 Moose Rd.
