Obituary: Larry Eugene Allred, age 70, of Kannapolis passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at CMC-Main after a brief illness. A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, June 19 at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Darryl Evans officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Thursday. Larry was born August 11, 1943 in Cabarrus Co, the son of the late John Jacob Allred and Edna Coggins Allred. He was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Hartsell High School. Larry attended First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis. He worked for many years at Cannon Mills and was a Supervisor in the Sheet Dept. until the mill was shut down. Larry enjoyed going to the beach, fishing and golfing. He was a loving father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife Tera McLain Allred. He is survived by his sons, Tadd Allred (Lori) of Concord, Mark Allred Porter of Concord, his daughters, Marsha Allred (Jeff) of Mt. Pleasant and Melissa Bradshaw(Adrian) of Concord. He had 5 grandchildren that he dearly loved; Brandon Porter, Brittany Fleming, Jacob Allred, Timothy Ratliff, Gabe Stafford and Sara Porter. Larry is also survived 3 sisters; Mary Coble of Petersburg VA, Johnny Goodman (Robert) of Kannapolis, Betty Gray (Jimmy) of Liberty NC and many other loving relatives.
