Obituary: Larry Duane Griffin, 69, of Concord, died unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 at CMC-NE following a period of declining health.Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm on Monday, Nov. 7 at Whitley's Annex Chapel with Rev. William Van Wieren, III officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Annex Chapel from 1:00 - 2:30 PM on Monday prior to the funeral.Larry was born March 2, 1942 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Darrell and Mary Snyder Griffin.He graduated from AL Brown HS in 1960 attended NC State and received his BA from Univ. of Arizona and his MBA from U. Penn's Wharton School of Business. He joined the US Air Force in 1963 and retired in 1997 with the rank of Colonel. He faithfully served his country for 34 Years. After retiring he moved back to this area with his wife in 1997. He attended Midway UMC and was very active in the Cabarrus Co. Republican Party and many other local organizations.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Michael Griffin.Survivors include his wife of 46 years Judy Carter Griffin of the home. Sons; Brett Griffin (Melanie) of Huntersville, Drew Griffin (Lisette) of Italy. Grandchildren include Ella, Rowan, and Aiden Griffin. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
