Obituary: Larry Eugene Huneycutt, 69, of Kannapolis died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at his home following 5 years declining health, but seriously ill, these last 2 months.The body of Mr. Huneycutt will lie in state from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 11, but his family will be receiving friends at the family home during the same time. A graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park on Wednesday, Oct. 12th at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Edward Scott and Rev. Tim McQueen officiating.Larry was born June 9, 1942 in Stanly Co. NC to the late James Miller and the late Margaret "Sally" Huneycutt Hinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Wade Hampton Hinson and his brother, Ronald Wade Hinson. He was a life long area resident, graduating from A. L. Brown HS in 1964. Larry was a long time member of Memorial Baptist Church and also was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge in China Grove. He worked for Duke Power Co. for 23 years and also owned and operated Dial Electrical Comp. as an electrical contractor until he retired. He loved to play his guitar and sing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 49 years, Loretta Payne Huneycutt of the family home, his son, Leslie E. Huneycutt and wife, Laura of China Grove, his daughter, Brandy H. Skok and husband, Michael of Salisbury. Grandchildren include Leslie E. Huneycutt II, Taylor Laine Knowles, Spencer Dayne Knowles and great-granddaughter, Kaydence Nicole Huneycutt.
