Larue Parrish Wilson

Obituary: LaRue Frances Parrish Wilson, age 99, formerly of Kannapolis, died November 4, 2014 at Margate Health and Rehab. in Jefferson, NC, after a period of declining health. She was born at home in Durham Co. NC on July 2, 1915 to Iola Lewter Parrish and James Franklin Parrish. LaRue was a 1936 graduate of WCUNC, now UNC-G with an AB degree in elementary education. She taught school in Cabarrus Co., Salisbury and Kannapolis, retiring in 1978. LaRue married Dudley G. Wilson in 1939. They were married for 62 years before his death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. LaRue is survived by her son Norman B. Wilson and wife Patricia of Richfield and daughter Janice Henson and husband Bill of Ashe Co. NC. Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, November 7 at Whitley's Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Carolina Memorial Park at 2:30 PM with Dr. Tom Cabaniss officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, where LaRue was an active member for over 60 years, 101 N. Main Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
