Obituary: Laura Blackwelder Hynd 92, formerly of China Grove, died Tuesday, September 21, 2011 at Autumn Care of Salisbury following a period of declining health. She was born on September 24, 1918 in Alexander County, NC, a daughter of the late Zeno and Margaret Russell Blackwelder. She graduated from Wingate College with a teaching degree.Mrs. Hynd moved to the area in 2002 from Miami, Fla. where she was the former owner and operator of Camelot Pre School and Kindergarten. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. post 8989 and was a former member of the Kannapolis Moose Lodge #1722. She was also a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church in Kannapolis. . She was preceded in death by her husband Retired Army Sgt. Alex Hynd who died in 1969.She is survived by a daughter, Laura H. Lipe of China Grove, a son, William Blackwelder of Miami FL., 2 grandsons, William Glick of Kannapolis, and Chris Blackwelder of Huntersville, 3 granddaughters, Juanita Kerr of Leesburg, FL., Tanya Drye of Concord, and Lucrieta Sullivan of Huntersville, 9 great grandchildren, Andrew K. and Katelyn Glick, Brianna M. and Riley J. Browning, Anthony and Logan Sullivan, Mary and Alex Ward, and Gage Anderson, 2 great great grandchildren, Bailee and Dale Ward.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. A private burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday prior to services.Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
