Obituary: Laurie Anne Fletcher McCall, 46 of Gastonia passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Laurie was born in Cabarrus County, NC, on February 21, 1967 a daughter of Vickye Hill Sloop of Kannapolis and the late L.A. Fletcher Jr. Laurie was a 1985 graduate of A.L. Brown High School and previously employed as an EMT in Gaston County. She was of the Lutheran faith. A memorial service to celebrate Laurie's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Rev. Mike Hubbard officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Carolina Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at her mother's residence in Kannapolis. In addition to her mother, Laurie is survived by her step-father; Waldo J. Sloop Jr., sons; Joshua Wayne McQueen and wife Darlene of Dallas, and Justin Todd Fisher of Rockwell, her fiancé; Alex Weaver of Gastonia, granddaughters; Meagan McQueen and Bella Dills, sisters; Samantha Sloop and husband David of Kannapolis, and Sandi Ellington and husband Frank of Longwood, brother; Scott Fletcher of Charleston, W.VA., step-brothers; Eddie Sloop of Wake Forest, Bill Sloop of Raleigh, and Jay Sloop of Benson, Aunts; Patsy McFadden and husband Billy of Greensboro, and Willaree Jessup of Kernersville, nieces; Sierra Tinkey, Katie Hinson, Adrianne and Sara Fletcher, nephews; Ande, Ryan, and Tyler Tino, and Jay Jones.
