Lelia "Nell" (Brown) Seaford

December 29, 1928 — November 28, 2022

Kannapolis

Lelia passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven on November 28, 2022 at age 93 after a long battle with vascular dementia.

She was born in Rowan County, North Carolina on December 29, 1928 to Jim and Viola Elizabeth Anderson Brown. One of five sisters and five brothers. She married Colon Mark Seaford after he returned from World War II in 1948. She worked in the sheet department of Cannon Mills until she retired to care for Colon until his death with dementia.

Lelia and Colon had one son Creighton Mark Seaford (Susan) of Huntsville, AL, and one grandaughter Elizabeth Cangelosi (Bill) of Sandy Springs, GA, all surviving. Her passion in life was being a mother, home maker, and wife. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Concord, and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school there in her younger years. She loved to bake cakes and cook for her family when they came to visit. She especially cherished time spent with “her little girl” Elizabeth. She also loved animals and her black Labrador rescue dog she named Buddy that was her constant companion after the loss of her husband.

She is also survived by sisters Peggy Smith, Rachel Ritchie, and Mable Morgan, numerous nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by sister Elizabeth Johnston, brothers Gene Brown, Bill Brown, Harold Brown, Linn Brown, and Robert Brown.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Concord. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Christensen officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to thank the various doctors, nurses, and staff of Atrium Health Cabarrus that cared for her during her last few weeks of life along with the staff of Preston House Memory Care in Charlotte where she was a resident for nearly two years. A special debt of gratitude is owed to her sister, Peggy Smith, for her unwavering care in her last days.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Trinity Church Road, Concord NC 28027.
