Leona Gray Kelly, 69, of Kannapolis, passed away March 30, 2022 after a period of declining health. Born April 18, 1952 in Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Nellie Looney Price.
Leona spent of her working years as a hairstylist working at Nancy Lynn Hair Fashions. She loved doing hair, makeup, singing, shopping and chatting it up with her friends.
Leona is survived by two children, Kisha Bowlin and husband Steve of Kannapolis and Brandon Shelton of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Mercedes O'Daniel and husband Dustin, Chase McEachern, Jena Hudson, and Brooklyn Bowlin; five great grandchildren, Bryson, Nolan, Marleigh, Hayley, Everleigh; a dear friend, Jimmy Sheppard.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Jacobs and very recently by her favorite canine companion, Pixie.
A funeral service to honor Leona's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis. Rev. Demps Overcash will officiate. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
