Leonard Hunter

Roy “Leonard” Hunter, 78, of Kannapolis passed away March 30, 2022. He was born December 31, 1943 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Roy and Annie Belle Hunter. He was preceded in death by a step-son, James Michael Winecoff.

Leonard had formerly worked at Cannon  Mills as a fixer in the wash cloth department. He then drove a truck for Eckerd (Rite-Aid) after the mill closed. In earlier years, Leonard enjoyed driving a race car at local tracks for years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Annex Chapel officiated  by Rev. James Pauley. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends prior from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at Whitley’s.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Glenda Hunter, daughter, Anita Hunter, step children, Jamie Winecoff, Tony Winecoff, Bobby Winecoff, Kathy Hudson, Susan McManus, Brent Winecoff and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
