Leroy Tilley, Sr.

Obituary: Mr. Leroy Tilley, Sr., 72 of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the residence of his brother, David Tilley, 2020 Stirewalt Road, China Grove following a period of declining health. He was born October 6, 1937 in Cabarrus County, NC son of the late Lee Clark and Mary Magneline Lynch Tilley. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He had previously been employed in textiles but most recently was a carpenter for Daniel's Construction Company until becoming disabled. He was of the Church of God Faith. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Ronnie Cooper. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Friday 6:00-7:30 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence of a brother, David Tilley, 2020 Stirewalt Road, China Grove. He is survived by his wife: Doris Coon Tilley of Landis, a Son: Leroy Tilley, Jr. of Raleigh, a Daughter: Lisa Money and husband Steve of Salisbury. Three Brothers: David Tilley and wife Leitha of China Grove, Donald Tilley and wife Betty "Ann" of Salisbury and Robert "Sonny" Tilley and wife Shirley of Kannapolis. Three Sisters also survive: Geraldine "Jerry" Glann and husband Jerry of China Grove, Colleen Holcombe and husband James of China Grove and Margaret Anderson of Kannapolis. One Grandchild: Lucas Money of Salisbury. He is also survived by a Brother in Law, Joe Rhame and wife Noleen of Lake Tillery. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In additon to his parents he was preceded in death by his Step Mother: Mae Fesperman Tilley and a Sister: Lucille Rhame.
