Lester Taylor Abernathy

Obituary: Lester Taylor Abernathy, 82, of Concord died February 18, 2016 at CMC- NorthEast. He was born April 13, 1933 in Iredell County, the son of the late F.W. Abernathy and Emma Fisher Abernathy. Taylor retired from First Union Bank in Charlotte. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 26, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Tommy Wensil. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ann Foster Abernathy, 3 sons, Mark Taylor Abernathy (Diane) of Mt. Pleasant, Matthew Timothy Abernathy (Beth) of Concord, Mitchell Tyler Abernathy of Eden, and grandchildren, Taylor Lee Abernathy, Matthew Abernathy, Haley, Megan and Justin Abernathy.
