Obituary: Lester "Les" Freeman, 95 of Kannapolis, NC died Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home. Mr. Freeman was born January 18, 1920 in Syracuse, NY the son of the late Samuel Freeman and the late Alice Klein Freeman. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Freeman. Les, as he was known by his friends, this year celebrated his 70th year as a Mason serving the last 30 years with the Allen-Graham Lodge No. 695, A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple. Mr. Freeman was a veteran of WW-2 serving proudly with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1941-1947where he felt blessed to have served his country. He was in sales most of his life and the last 14 years locally with Rite Lite Sign Company and then with Casco retiring at the age of 92. Les was born Jewish but became a born again Christian and after moving to this area he became a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. The service will take place at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 18 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel conducted by Rev. Michael Waters, Rev. Steve Davis and Rev. Darrell Coble. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 12:30-2:30 Wednesday before the service at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel. Les is survived by his wife, Lois Isenhour Freeman of the home; 1 son, Jeffery Freeman (Carla) of Hagerstown, MD., a brother; Sandy Freeman (Pat) of Cherry Hill, N.J., 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 step-son, and 3 step-grandchildren.
