Lewis M. Drye

Obituary: Lewis Matthew Drye, 90, of Kannapolis, NC passed away at Morningside of Concord on February 12, 2015. Mr. Drye was born on November 6, 1924 in Cabarrus County, NC the son of the late James E. Drye and the late Roasnna Harvell Drye. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 1 sister, Louise Lane and 4 brothers; Floyd, Luke, Leroy and James E. Drye. Mr. Drye was a veteran of WW-2 serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Kannapolis Church of God and was a supervisor at the former Cannon Mills Company. Survivors include his wife, Rubie Oliver Drye of the home; Sons, Doug Drye and Terry Drye (Janet) all of Concord, and a daughter, Cathy McRorie (Mike) of Kannapolis. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Mr. Drye is also survived by a sister, Bonda D. Whitley and special sister-in-law, Faye M. Oliver and our special Morningside of Concord family. The service for Mr. Drye will take place at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 15th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Greg Sloop and Rev. Barbara Watkins. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., before the service.
