Obituary: Lewis Edward Fisher, 72, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 1, 2016. "Ed" was born April 19, 1944 in Charlotte, NC, the son of Locke Craig Fisher and Edith Pauline Chapman Fisher. After a tour of duty in Vietnam serving with the US Air Force, he returned home and married Pauline Weatherly and became a father to her three children; James Michael Helms, Jeffrey Warren Helms and Donna Kay Helms. Ed and Pauline later had two sons, John Edward Fisher and Brian Christopher Fisher. After a 35 year career with the postal service, Ed retired and devoted his time to his faith and family. As a lifelong learner, Ed spent his retirement learning and teaching others about God and His Word. Friends and family remember Ed for his cooking, sense of humor and love of family. He is survived by his five children, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, as well as brothers William "Red" Fisher and Robert "Bob" Fisher, and sisters Vickie Jenkins and Janice Miller. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Ruby "Tootsie" Fisher. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Crown Pointe Baptist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by Rev. Gene Beaver, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at the National Cemetery, Salisbury, with military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crown Pointe Baptist Church, c/o Ed Fisher Building Fund, 703 Tennessee St., Kannapolis NC 28083.
