Lewis C. Mccombs, Sr.

Obituary: Lewis C. "Pete" McCombs, Sr., 82, of Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born July 2, 1932 in Rowan County, the son of the late Leo and Rosalie Gillon McCombs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald McCombs and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Greene McCombs. Lewis retired from Anderson-Little and then worked at The Shoe Dept. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church where he appreciated and loved all that his church family has done for him. He was a former member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church where in his younger years he served on the Church Council, Church choir, Usher committee and taught Sunday School. He and his wife also served as Luther League Advisors. Lewis enjoyed camping, the Andy Griffith show, classic movies and family trips to the beach. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Midway United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Mike Collins. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior in the church fellowship hall. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. He is survived by his wife, Frances McClamrock McCombs, four children, Linda Stewart (Bobby) of Dallas, Lewis McCombs Jr. of Kannapolis, Amy Nance of Salisbury, Lisa Duplisea (Tony) of Kannapolis, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a sister, Betty Chloe Longacre (David) of China Grove.
