Lewis Mitchell Rodgers

Lewis Mitchell Rodgers, Sr., 92, passed away Saturday evening, May 9, 2020, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Salisbury, following a period of declining health.

Born March 1, 1928 in Cabarrus County, Lewis was a son of the late Walter Mitchell and Lucy Smith Rodgers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Annelle Teate Rodgers; a son, Mitchell Rodgers; daughter, Regina Eubanks; and his second wife, Madge Patterson Rodgers.

Lewis graduated from Winecoff High school and had honorably served our country in the US Army, beginning in 1948. Mr. Rodgers had been employed with Cannon Mills as a talented welder, later retiring from Duke Energy, where he was a welding inspector. He was a member of Branchview First Church of God in Concord and lived his life serving our Lord and always thinking of ways he could help others in need and those less fortunate than he. Although in a much better place today, Mr. Rodgers will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Loving family members include his children, Phil Rodgers, Starr Russ (Will Pleasants) and Trina Owen (Steven Helms); his sister, Elizabeth Cook; brother, Charles Rodgers; son-in-law, Mark Eubanks; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, and extended family members.  Mr. Rodger’s also leaves fond memories to his dear, caring and giving friend, Delores Jenkins.

Private funeral services will be held. Mr. Rodger’s will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park.
