Libbie Irene Deal

Libbie Irene Goble Deal, 98, of China Grove, passed away peacefully at home Saturday August 28, 2021 after a period of declining health. Born November 22, 1922 in Iredell County she was the daughter of the late Arthur Bedford and Clara Hafer Goble. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jackson Deal and twelve brothers and sisters.

Libbie is survived by a daughter, Judith Shinn and husband Robert of China Grove; a son, Ernest Deal and wife Cynthia of China Grove; five grandchildren Robert Lee Shinn, Charles Eric Shinn and wife Georgina, Christopher Ryan Deal and wife Carrie, Rebecca Jane Bishop, Jennifer Grace Deal and husband Brian Fromal, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

During her public working years, Libbie was a seamstress at the former Cannon Mills. She was known as an avid gardener. She also baked cakes for the public as well as sold pecans from her own trees. She was a long-time member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ, China Grove, the Laura Holshouser Circle and the Golden Agers Club.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. Pastor Mark Burns will officiate. There will be no public visitation.
