Obituary: Lillie Mae Wheless "Butch" Armstrong, 84 of Mooresville, passed away on Monday June 3, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Armstrong was born on October 30, 1928 in Rowan County, NC, a daughter of the late Fred Lee and Eula Mae Hearne Wheless. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Franklin Armstrong Sr. who died February 14, 1990, and a son-in-law, Scott Alan Bertling. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a son; Earl Franklin Armstrong Jr. and wife Lynnease of Mooresville, 2 daughters; Tammy Diane Armstrong Vu of Indiana, and Terry Jean Armstrong of Statesville, 4 grandchildren; Cathy Vu and Kim Vu of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joshua Arrowood and wife Rachel of Statesville, and Jeremy Armstrong and wife Cecelia of Mooresville, 3 great grandchildren; Nathan Kia and Nyla Jade Concepcion both of Indiana, and Ian Arrowood of Statesville. Funeral services for Mrs. Armstrong will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at West Corinth Baptist Church, 120 Corinth Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28115 at 6:00 pm, with Rev. Robert Suttles officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the church. Mrs. Armstrong was a lifelong member of West Corinth Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and was active with the Sunshine Club and church visitation program as long as her health permitted. She had retired from Cannon Mills Plt#1 Office with over forty years of service. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Armstrong.
