Obituary: - Lillie Mae Miles Jones, age 68, lost her battle with cancer and went to be with Jesus and family on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. She was born October 18, 1947 in Chesterfield County, SC, the daughter of the late Johnny Carl Miles and Ellar Mae Jordan Miles. Lillie was employed for many years in food service at the K & W Cafeteria, Concord, NC where she retired after many years of service. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores. Lillie was also a member of Sunrise Freewill Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. In addition her parents she is preceded in death by three sisters, Ethaleen Miles, Margie Mills, and Dorothy Bell Melton; and a brother, James Albert Miles. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Ronnie Tucker. A graveside service will be held later that afternoon at 3:00 PM at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. The family would like to say a special thank you to Sandra, Annette, and Ruth, her nieces, for their time and help through all of her illness and also Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their excellent care during her last days. Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Sutherland and Kevin Darrell Sutherland, both of Kannapolis, NC; two daughters, Debra Scoggins of Concord, NC and Theresa Izaquirre of Kannapolis, NC; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brother, J.C. Miles of Concord, NC; a special nephew, Larry Miles of Kannapolis, NC. Memorials may be made to Sunrise Freewill Baptist Church, 3650 Centergrove Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
