Obituary: Linn Clain Brown, age 89, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 at Five Oaks Nursing Center, Concord, NC. He was born May 14, 1921 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late James Walter Brown and Viola Elizabeth Anderson Brown. Linn was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company for over 40 years and then a partner with Brown Brothers Construction Company, Kannapolis, NC.He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Concord, NC where he was active with the Shiloh Methodist Men.He was well-known for his affiliations with the Odell Volunteer Fire Department, Odell Lions Club, and the V.F.W. Poston-Perkins Post 8989 in Kannapolis.Linn was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II where he served in Patton's 4th Armored Division, Company B, 35th Tank Battalion as a medium tank crewman. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Rodgers Brown; three brothers, Robert Brown, James Brown, and Harold Brown. The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Concord, NC officiated by Rev. Bruce Handy and Rev. Bob Clanton . Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include three daughters, Faye Clanton & husband, Rev. Bob Clanton of Statesville, NC, Sue Beam and Linda Barbee & husband, Fred Barbee, both of Concord, NC; Eight grandchildren, Stuart Clanton & wife, Lee Ann of Matthews, NC, Monique Dabbs & husband, Randy of Concord, NC, Alise Last & husband, Travisof Statesville, NC, Karen Beam of Concord, NC, Randy Beam & wife, Sharon of Concord, NC, Suzanne Ausmann & husband, Paul of Concord, NC, Leslie McCready & husband, Tracy of Concord, NC, and Kim Gordon & husband, John of Concord, NC; Sixteen great-grandchildren, Michael Clanton, Justin Dabbs, Jessica Dabbs, Jordan Dabbs, Aleya Last, James (J.T.) Last, Jr., Jonathan Beam, Shawn Beam, Kellie Beam, Gavin Ausmann, Matthew McCready, Nicolas McCready, Kayla Gordan, Johnny Gordon, Jarrett Gordon, and Jessica Gordon; A brother, Gene Brown & wife, Phyllis; Five sisters, Lib Johnston, Nell Seaford, Mabel Morgan & husband, Wesley (Bus), Rachel Ritchie, and Peggy Smith & husband, Bill. Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, % Building Fund, 4149 Odell School Road, Concord, NC 28027.
Visitation: 6-8 P.M. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 3 P.M., Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Concord.

Interment: Church Cemetery.
