Lircey Lee Brown, 94 of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 2, 2021 at his residence following a period of declining health.
He was born January 29, 1927 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late James Stewart Brown, Sr. and Cornelia Rumple Brown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years; Elsie McDuffie Brown who died February 23, 2013, a daughter Beverly Ann Brown Lord, a sister, Mary Louise Watt and a brother Ernest Rumple.
Lircey was a lifetime member of Bethpage United Methodist Church where he and his wife were in charge of the Golden Ager’s Group. He was active in the Dot Hurley Sunday School Class.
He also served as a Hospice volunteer. He retired from Cannon Mills #7 Weave Room with 47 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea where he received two bronze Campaign Stars. He enjoyed gardening, trout fishing and being with his grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate Lircey’s life will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Bethpage United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary MacDonald and Duane Melton. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites.
Family members left to cherish his memory are three sons, Philip Lee Brown and Mark Eric Brown and wife Lisa, all of Kannapolis and Stephen Scott Brown of China Grove. He is also survived by grandchildren Megan Lord Peterson and husband Lucas, Lauren Lord Urban and husband Steve, Samuel Lee Brown and John Thomas Brown and great granddaughter, Hadley Urban, one brother, James Stewart Brown, Jr. and wife Evelyn of Kannapolis and one sister Ruth Fesperman of Kannapolis.
The family requests that social distancing be observed and masks be worn at the visitor’s discretion.
The family request that memorials be made to the Boy Scout Troop #254, c/o Bethpage United Methodist Church, 109 Fellowship Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
