Obituary: Lisa Barger Christy, 49, passed away Sunday evening, September 10, 2017 at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 23, 1968 in Rowan County, she was a daughter of Jimmy Lee Barger of Faith and the late Brenda Sue Poole Barger. Lisa had earlier been a 20 year employee of KOSA, later working 10 years for Carolina TotalCare in Concord. Lisa loved her family, her animals and spending time at High Rock Lake. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Lisa will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members left with cherished memories include her husband of 29 years, Alan Christy; her children Corey Christy and Katie Christy Odom (Robert), her step-children Cindy Thompson (Greg) and Anthony Ryan Christy (Allison); her grandchildren Ashley Jones, Kayleigh Thompson and Madison, Brianne and Annalynn Christy; her great-granddaughter Emma Hinson; maternal grandparents Wallace and Louise Yates, her sisters Teresa Love (Donnie) and Shelia Barger, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 13th from 12:00-2:00 pm at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Memorial services to remember and celebrate Lisa's life will begin at 2:00 in the church, conducted by the Rev. Ellen Campbell Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
