Obituary: China Grove - Lois Virginia Dagenhart Barnhardt, age 84, of China Grove went to heaven to rejoin her husband, and best friend, on Friday April 10, 2009. She had been hospitalized at CMC-NorthEast. Lois was born November 19, 1924 in Catawba/Iredell County, the daughter of the late Andrew W. Dagenhart and Carrie Grant Dagenhart. She was employed in her early years in Cannon Mills having moved to Kannapolis with her sister Jackie. She met Arnold Samuel Barnhardt, the man who was to become her husband, there. They were married in York, SC. Together, they spent time during World War II in Florida. Subsequent to that , they lived in various places in Rowan County as well as in the Asheville/Buncombe county area of NC. They were continually going places and doing things together. Arnold predeceased her in 1986. Lois then moved back to the Rowan County area where she lived until her passing. During her lifetime, she also worked in the Kannapolis area for Montgomery-Wards and F.W. Woolworth. She is survived by her son Sharon Arnold Barnhardt and his wife Carol of China Grove, where she had made her home, a sister Jackie D. Hager of Charlotte, 4 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren. Her brothers Albert, Thomas, Everette, and Wilborn Dagenhart predeceased her as did a sister Polly Crider. The funeral will be 12:00 noon on Monday April 13, 2009 at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Joseph Tallent. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Whitley's Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 AM Monday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church 750 Mt. Moriah Church Rd.
