Obituary: Lois Aldridge Milam, 90, of Mooresville died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born May 23, 1921 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Walket Aldridge. Mrs. Milam was a charter member of God's Church of Faith and was the oldest living member of the church. She was a Sunday School teacher for 23 years and attended church as long as her health permitted. She was a loving mother, and dearly loved her eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 10 greatgreatgrandchildren, 33 greatgreatgreatgrandchildren and her greatgreatgreatgreatgrandchild. She was known for her cooking, gardening and canning. She had been employed in the textile industry for many years. Her favorite pastime was reading and quoting her bible.Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 21, 2011 at God's Church of Faith in Kannapolis conducted by Rev. Jeff Upright and Rev.Tim Brown. Internment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 12:30 until 3:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence of a son, Tildon "Shorty" Milam, 3065 Deal Road, Mooresville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Trace Milam; who died Oct. 13, 1988 and a son, Marvin Starnes.Survivors include her son: Tildon "Shorty" (Ruth) Milam of Mooresville, three brothers, Ed (Doris) Aldridge of Kannapolis, Clegg (Eva) Aldridge of Badin, and Bobby (Diane) Aldridge of Landis, and one sister, Emmie Milam Gulledge of Kannapolis.Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Lois Milam.
