Obituary: Lois Barts Baltes Thomas, 96, of Kannapolis passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Big Elm Nursing Center. She was born January 27, 1918 in Spray, NC, the daughter of the late Weldon Green Barts and Janie Manuel Barts. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold William Baltes and Otis Thomas. She was also preceded by two brothers, Lewis "Son" Barts and James Russell. She retired from Cannon Mills Company Plant 1 Sewing room. She had formerly lived in Albemarle before moving back to Kannapolis. She had formerly attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Albemarle and then Landis Baptist Church in Landis. She is currently a member of Central Baptist Church. She had taught Sunday school for over 50 years between her churches. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, March 20th at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by her grandson, Rev. Allen Reid and Rev. Curtis Parker. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior from 11:00 to 12:00 PM. She is survived by her son, Harry Weldon Baltes (Paula) of Troy, her daughter, Lois B. Reid of Kannapolis, three grandchildren; Samuel and Elizabeth Baltes, Rev. Allen Reid, and her sister "Shine"Lowder of Kannapolis. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com
