Lonnie Eldred Gulledge

Obituary: Lonnie Eldred Gulledge, age 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 16, 2009. He was born onApril 15, 1924 in Chesterfield County, SC, the son of the late Moses Jonathan Gulledge and Margaret Ann Culley Gulledge. Lonnie owned & operated the Sunoco Service Station on Cannon Blvd. In Kannapolis for many years. In his later years he worked for and retired from Piedmont Block Company in Concord, NC. He was an active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, China Grove, NC until his illness kept him from attending. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lois Ruth Naomi Peeler Gulledge. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, China Grove, NC officiated by Rev. Phred Causey and Rev. Paul Pickler. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his children, Lonnie Wayne Gulledge & wife, Darlene, Connie Elaine Shields & husband, Lesley, Rebecca Ruth Bost & husband, Delane, and Sharon Dianne Dease & husband, Bobby; His grandchildren, Ray Delane Bost, Jr. & wife, Robin, Lonnie Page Pless, Brittany Leigh Bost, Vernon Lee Barton, Jr., and Christy Dawn Barton; his great-grandchildren, Lauren Rae Bost, Ciji Fisher & husband, Casey; One sister, Ethel Wallace and husband, Fred; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 811 N. Enochville Avenue, China Grove, NC 28023 OR the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
