Lorene Bonds Taylor

Obituary: Lorene Bonds Taylor, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a serious illness. She was born October 18, 1933 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late William Coil Bonds and Eva Hollar Bonds. Lorene was a 1951 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School and Kings College in Charlotte, NC. Lorene was employed with the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc., Plant One, in the Data Processing Dept. for forty-seven years of service until she retired 1998. She was also a member of Charity Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. Lorene loved traveling especially to Gatlinburg, TN. She also enjoyed meeting with friends from work in "the breakfast group" and having lunches with friends from high school In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, James Horace Bonds and Gerald Boyce Bonds. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Ron Bushey and Rev. Billy Carey. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, Richard J. Taylor; daughter, Pamela G. Sloop of Kannapolis, NC; her son, Eric L. (Lyn) Sloop and wife, Vicki of Jamestown, NC; her grandson, Cameron B. Sloop of Wrightsville Beach, NC; her brother, Merle Dean Bonds and wife, Joyce of Kannapolis, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her beloved Pomeranian, Missy, and Dachshund, "granddog" named Leo. The family would like to say a special thank you to the kind and compassionate care the staff at Tucker Hospice House gave our mother during her difficult illness.
