Lorene Benfield Wynens

Kannapolis

Lorene Benfield Wynens went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 11, 2024 after several years of declining health. She was born August 7, 1937, to Guy and Pauline Benfield. She was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis.

Following graduation from A.L. Brown High School; where she proudly played on the varsity Lady Wonders basketball team, she graduated from Carolina Business School in Charlotte.

For over 35 years she worked for the IRS, the ATF, and retired from the VA Medical Center in Salisbury in 1996.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers Gene and Charles Benfield.

Lorene enjoyed traveling , watching her grandson Alex playing sports, going dancing with husband Bill (oh how she loved to dance), and watching UNC Tar Heel basketball.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Bill, daughter, Denise Brown (Gene), son Chad, and grandson Alex.

The family will receive friends at Midway United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 10:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M. The service will follow at 11:00 A.M. conducted by Pastor Craig Allen. Internment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank Caremoor Assisted Living, Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and Whitley’ s Funeral Home for their care and compassion shown to the family.
