Louise Overcash Elwood, 89, of Concord died Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Concord Place Assisted Living after a period of declining health.
Her funeral will be held at noon Friday, May 7 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Concord with Rev. David Cochran and Rev, Charlie Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church the hour prior to the funeral, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Louise was born February 14, 1932 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late John W. and Lillian Freeze Overcash. She was the last surviving of four siblings. Louise was a lifelong resident of Cabarrus Co. and longtime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She graduated from W. R. Odell High School. In earlier years, Louise worked for cannon Mills as an overedger, later she worked at NorthEast Medical Center as a CNA. Louise was known for her cakes and being a caregiver to those around her. She loved to play softball with her kids and loved listening to Elvis. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her brother, Elbert and her sisters, Marjorie and Lola Mae, her husband, Billy Ray Elwood, her daughter, Pam Hartsell and son-in-law Gary Hartsell, and her son-in-law Kelly Dutch.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Libby E. Dutch of Davidson, her sons, Elbert Ray Elwood (Brenda) and Delbert Ray (Amy), both of Concord, 10 grandchildren and 18 greatgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
